We at The Untapped Potential have always been passionate about using photography, media and the arts as a way to have fun. Despite the countless courses that may be available out there, we wanted something affordable and accessible for the general public – without having the pressures of finances or assessments whilst you learn something new. Besides, having fun helps us learn right?

So, we compiled our curriculums from our past clients and attendees and made them available and affordable for the public at just $35/Pax. The Smartphone photography workshop hosted by us will be 4 hours long, but it’ll guide you through the necessary basics to photography; just with your smartphone.

introduction to smartphone photography

Smartphone Photography, like Photography in general, leverages on similar if not same principles and basics. We found that it was much easier to learn and pickup a new skill or hobby under the guidance and tutelage of an experienced trainer. Unlike some of us on the team, we may only have had countless hours of YouTube videos to be our guide, our team wanted to cater to a better learning experience whilst having fun – which was something some of us didn’t have.

important basics in our workshop

In photography, strong understanding of basics matter a lot. You may find the list of topics that we’ll be learning in our workshops below!

1. Composition Techniques

The backbone of photography usually starts with composition – where do we place our subjects, any ratios to follow, and the different guidelines of compositing a “well balanced” shot. Techniques like Rule of Thirds, Framing Frames are amongst the core of necessary basics to learn.

2. Lighting Control/Techniques

Understanding brightness, lighting or exposure is definitely something we need to take note of. Ever had the scenario where you encounter backlit lighting or the sun’s position is not in your favour? (We know we have)

3. In-depth Look At Smartphone Camera Functions

Sometimes (or very often) we would like to experiment and understand how to use the various functions in our Smartphone cameras. Fret not! Our trainers will guide and walk you through the various functions no matter if you belong to the Apple Family or Android Community.

4. Visual Storytelling Through Photos

They say a picture (or a photo) is worth a thousand words. Well that’s true…. to some extent. We believe that photos can speak for itself and the environment that surrounds the subject can give the audience an understanding or context of the captured scenario.

we’re about engagement & fun whilst learning something new

Sometimes workshops may seem like a long and arduous classroom setting and even more so feel like a lecture, honestly we are not keen on that as well. Which is why our team of trainers focus on the engagement and fun whilst making sure what you learn is top notch in quality as well!

Experienced Trainers

Trainers that are filled with industry experience and are ready to share what they know so don’t be shy, ask away!

Practical Forward

Photography is a practice-forward activity, our workshops always includes ample practice and hands-on sessions for everybody to fully understand how techniques and functions work.

let’s make photography fun again, together.

Our aim for the workshops at the end of the day has always been about engagement and fun in learning. Sometimes photography may seem very daunting and challenging, but we believe that with the right guidance and learning environment everyone can have fun in photography!

So long as you enjoy, have fun and learn something new during our sessions, our job is done.
